Maidstone Greek School

Programmes

 The purpose of Particular Education is to preserve and cultivate the Greek language, the religious, ethnic and cultural identity of children of Greek descent in their migration and acquaintance with the customs of their particular country, Cyprus and Greece. In particular, through the education provided, children are helped to:

  • Learn how to use the Greek language correctly and effectively
  • Become acquainted with and experience the truths of the Orthodox Christian Faith
  • Familiarize and appreciate the historical life and cultural heritage and traditions of Cyprus and Greece and form a national consciousness.
  • To learn the customs and customs of our country, to appreciate them and to be interested in their preservation
  • To get acquainted with the natural and human environment of Cyprus and Greece and to feel loved and proud of our country
  • To know our enslaved land and to keep alive the memory of our occupied territorie
  • Get to know the historical events of modern history of Cyprus and Greece
  • To get acquainted with contemporary Greek / Cypriot reality through frequent, everyday, ordinary situations.
  • Familiarize with the interests, problems and concerns of their peers in Cyprus and Greece.
  • To learn songs and dances of our country, to develop a positive attitude towards the music and dance of our people, to preserve them and to transmit them.

Through the cultivation of a climate of respect for the cultural diversity of the children’s environment, any cultural conflicts or absolute ethnocentric tendencies are avoided. The pursuit is for our children and young people to prosper and progress in the country they live, but at the same time to know the roots and be proud of their origin.
